Sorry it has been a while since my last update. I'm going to try and fix some problems some people have viewing some of the pics. I think it might stem from using older browsers such as IExplorer or Netscape 3.00. I'm sure AOL has same problems as they use IExplorers browser. If you use IExplorer 4.0 or later versions of Netscape it shouldn't cause a problem. I'm going to ask Harry, a member who uses webtv if he has had any problems. It could be a win95 vs. win98 problem also. (Long file names)
Well the remodeled cabin is done and should be rented by the time you read this. We have been busy finishing the sites and the sod is now laid on all of the sites. We are FULL. Mardi Gras is in full swing and you can tell it by our sites. If you are a member you shouldn't have a prob, but if you are CCC or RPI good luck.
Bathhouse is underway. Please bear with us until we finish it. It looks like the ladies will have to go to the Clubhouse to shower and change for a while. We will try to make it as quick and painless as possible.
Newsletter - as soon as it is done I'll have it up on the web. Waiting on Marc King. Feel free to give a call to hurry him up. :-)
MLR will not be having a Mardi Gras parade, instead we are going to have a St. Patrick's day parade.
We are planning some neat things for the center section or campsites that I think members without campers will be happy to see. More on that later.2-17
Well, we are now working on the bathhouse. The Men's is closed as there is no toilets, sinks, stalls, plumbing, ceiling, etc. We have gutted it out completely and pressure washed the entire inside.
Coast to Coast is now (finally) online. Check them out at
Lastly, this is for Eric. If you are checking this out like you said you would, drop me a line and tell me what you think.
That's all for now. Sid took some pics of the bathhouse and newly remodeled cabin. Will try to post them as soon as possible. :-)2-23
Well, I've been working hard on the newsletter and just faxed it to the printers. Hopefully they can get it done soon. We think we might have a handle on the reason some people do not get newsletters. Sid mentioned that the machines that the post office uses to process mail might jam up when processing the newsletters due to the way they are folded together. We have decided to put them in envelopes to eliminate this. If you still do not get a newsletter in the mail call us so we know what's going on. (875-9257)
The Jacuzzi is getting it's new $1800+ heater so hopefully we won't get as many problems as we have in the past.
MLR also had an informal meeting last week with some of the members so look for some changes soon. That's all for now, try and stay out of the wind. :-) -Jay3-29
Sorry it's been so long since my last update. Actually I have updated it I just didn't mention it cauz it was mainly adding a few business', nothing really big. There are new office hours and soon there will be no smoking in the clubhouse before and after the Sat Dinners. The clubhouse is coming along well. We just poured concrete on Thu so now the front of it looks quite different. Now you can get wheel chairs up inside. Should be starting tile work soon. The air-conditioning has been run and we are in the process of running the new power.
The Jacuzzi has been running almost a month without problems! What a pain it's been.
The Easter Egg hunt and parade went wonderfully. Many of you came out and had a lot of fun. We are still picking up candy wrappers. :-) The weather was nice and we had a very good turnout. Thank to everyone who volunteered. -Jay4-11
Well, the bathhouse is coming along nicely. I'm going to try and finish the landscaping out in front on Tue. Inside, the new lights and power is finished. We put a new drain in and sheet rocked the ceiling. Soon we will be ready for tile. Magnolia Flooring in Ocean Springs is going to do the work for us. I have another member who will be tiling the women's side later.
The Jacuzzi is still running with nary a problem!
There were a ton of people out today and yesterday. It's really starting to pick up out here. There was some teens having a party and Billy had a party for Bruce since he is stepping down from his position at the Elks lodge. Lots of food and fun. Al Graham and his traveling fun show (band) played some Cajun music with some of his friends.
RPI is online. You can check them out at www.resortparks.com
Well, that's all for now. If you haven't made it out yet, you know where we are. -Jay5-11
Well, the tile on the floor is almost done the flower beds are almost done as well. Still have to find something to plant in them though. We are now working on putting sewer on Azalea. Those of you who haven't made it out yet should try and get out. Last couple of weekends were beautiful and many people did and had themselves a ball. Anywaz, that's all for now. Will keep updating as soon as I can. - Jay6-3
Well it's been a while and time for an update.
The bathhouse is almost done (the men's side, soon to be women's) they have almost finished with the tile. Then we will be putting in the plumbing and sinks, partitions, toilets, showers, etc. . . It is now air-conditioned and handicap accessible. The flower beds are done but need some dirt and plants.
They are still working on the sewer for Azalea and are waiting for some parts for the lift station. They have in the meantime put insulation in the sales office so it doesn't get so hot in there.
Snack bar is OPEN!
AOR has a new updated web site. You can visit them at www.membershipcamping.com
That's all for now. Will try to keep you informed. -Jay6-22
Well, good news. . . we finally got the partitions in for the bathhouse and they are almost done. Sid and I worked on them today and should finish tomorrow. Then the toilets and sinks go in and we should have it open for July 4. It will become the ladies bathroom so be warned. (The ladies get all the good stuff) Anyway, Marty and AJ have been working on the sewers for the sites on Azalea and are almost finished with that. We are still looking for a cook so if anyone wants the job let it be known.
It also looks like we are going to have fireworks this 4th (last year we had a fire ban). We also have three new people working for us. They are Christina (on the gate), Chris (on the lake) and Daniel (on the pool). They are doing a nice job for us so if you see em say hi. :-)
I have added many people to the newsletter list and some to the updates list so make sure if you want to be on either list let me know. If you are on the updates list you should receive this in your mail so let me know if you don't. That's it, I'm done. Hope to see you soon. -Jay6-25
Got the toilets in the ladies room now and the sinks are about done also. The parts for the shower should be in soon. It's all coming together nicely.
Well I bought a whole bunch of fireworks today. Looks like it will be a good show providing we have some decent weather. It's raining now and that will mess us up for the sewer line but I guess that's the way it works. -Jay6-27
Fireworks will be shot off on Sat (July 3) providing we have good weather. Looks like we will also be serving Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. That's all for now. -Jay7-05
Well, the fireworks went off without a hitch. Just a few small burns. Hehehe The ladies bathroom is now finished and we just got the drain fixed in it today so shouldn't have any more problems with that. All in all it was a good 4th cept for some scattered showers here and there. We also gave away lots of prizes for the sack races, paddle boat races, and watermelon seed spitting contest. Thanks to everyone for making this another great holiday! And to everyone who couldn't be here we hope you had a good 4th of July.7-21
Well, updated the site with the new newsletter. I will also be sending off an email probably tomorrow to those of you on the email list for receiving the newsletter by mail. Not much else to say. Cheers.7-24
Got some new pics scanned so will hopefully get those up soon. -Jay8-01
Got some pics of Hurricane Georges up. Check em out. We also finished putting in the sewer lines on Azalea. Now all that is left is to put in a lift station. We also found out that we are going to have to tie into the new water tower that just went up. Don't know how much that is gonna cost. It's a shame too because we have such good water out here as it is. I'm going to try and see if I can't start taking reservations off the website. I have to figure out how to do it in such a way that it doesn't give M&M a headache. Also, many email address' that we received were either incomplete or unreadable or outdated so some mail that I have sent out came back. Make sure to keep us informed of any changes. That's all for now. As for you Harry and Earl, I hope your weather is better up there than it is down here. It's is sweltering. -Jay8-05
Well, I have updated the site with an option to make your reservations online now. Check it out and hope it makes things easier. Gonna see if I can't pick up something for the planters. -Jay8-29
Wow, has it been that long since I've updated. Well I must have been busy (?) Any ways just to let you know that we've poured some concrete sites on Azalea but still have quite a ways to go. I have also added a section to the website so that you can now make campsite reservations. If you want to reserve a cabin or trailer you must call.
On a sad note, we've had a member pass away recently. Austin Derouen. Some of you can remember him playing some soft sweet bluegrass on his guitar. He will be missed. That's all for now. God bless - Jay9-01
Well, not much to say other than I've done a couple of things to the website. I added a little page about me (see if you can find it) and also a chat client. This will allow people to chat with each other when visiting the site. I don't know how well it work everyone. I know many of you have webtv. Check it out, it works for me and is pretty cool. For those of you who don't know it, the address is www.martinlake.com You can click on the menu for chat to get there.
That's all for now. Earl, hope your feelin better.9-13
Well, I've added some pictures finally. A big thanks goes out to Howard Bradford for taking the pictures with his digital camera. Nice job Howard. More will follow soon. We also poured two sites on Azalea on Friday. Things are goin well. Let's just hope we steer clear of Floyd. -Jay9-21
Well, if you haven't checked out the new pics I put up check em out. We have also started to stucco the bathhouse. Should make quite a difference. I'll see if I can't get some pictures for that as well, before and after would be nice. Man I wish I had a digital camera. :-) The weather here has been phenomenal. Been a little on the dry side and the love bugs are in full force but some beautiful weather. Well that's all for now, I'm gonna get out and get some sun. Hope you are all well. -Jay10-05
Been a while since I've updated. We are working hard on the bathhouse to get it finished. The stucco is gonna be nice. Some of you will be happy to know that they are putting in the trunk line for phone on Cedar. The only other thing I think to say is that Al and Stella and Beau rolled in today. I'll keep everyone posted.10-12
I have put the site map and also a Gulf Coast Map on the website. If you've wanted to make reservations or just want to know the layout check it out. http://www.martinlake.com That's it for now. - Jay11-18
Been a while since my last update. Sorry. I have now added a Halloween section to the pics. If you want to see what went on take a look. It was a lot of fun. Again, a big thanks to Howard Bradford for taking the pictures you see on the Haunted House.
We have been working hard on getting the sites on Azalea concreted and only have 3 left to go. The sewer should be operational as I type this. (If the electrician wired it yesterday) We are also going to extend the sidewalk out past Joe's beyond the bridge.
Steve has been working hard on the bathhouse and the outside looks great. Such an improvement from last year. It will be nice when the men's side is finished.
Not much more to say. I'll try to keep the updates coming. -Jay
